How we research

Every guide on LicenseLateral is researched from primary sources: state statutes, licensing board websites, ARELLO (Association of Real Estate License Law Officials) data, NIPR (National Insurance Producer Registry) records, and NAIC (National Association of Insurance Commissioners) resources. We link to the specific regulation or board page so you can verify anything we say.

When official sources are ambiguous — and they often are — we call the licensing board directly. If we can't get a definitive answer, we say so in the article rather than guessing.

Independence

LicenseLateral's editorial content is independent of our affiliate partnerships. Advertisers and affiliate partners have no influence over what we write, what we recommend, or how we present information. Our recommendations are based on research, not commissions.

Corrections and updates

State licensing laws change. When we learn that a guide contains outdated information, we update it and note the change with an "Updated" date in the article header. If you spot an error, we take accuracy seriously and will correct it promptly.

What this site is not
